Grant Wilson

Earth Law Center

Big Idea:

In most countries, nature has the legal status of mere property. Earth Law Center enacts an earth centred legal system that recognizes and enforces the Rights of Nature. They protect nature’s right to exist, thrive, evolve and be defended in court. To do this, ELC finds and trains legislative champions (NGOs and lawyers) of the Rights of Nature who campaign for the change of laws, and fight for enforcement of these laws in court.

Grant is an attorney who has fought for the health of rivers, forests, and other ecosystems for 15 years. He has helped write laws recognizing nature as a subject of rights and led policy campaigns throughout the world. He earned his law degree and certificate in environmental and natural resources law from Lewis & Clark Law School.
