Forest Carbon

Big Idea:
Tropical forest carbon deals in Indonesia

Forest Carbon makes restoration of tropical forest and wetlands in Indonesia commercially viable. They use proprietary technology to identify and assess sites for restoration and then negotiate with the current licensee for long-term management of the land. Forest Carbon finds corporate buyers for carbon credits and distributes the earnings across the community, the licensee, and Forest Carbon.

Jeff is a conservationist whose passion for forest protection grew while he was a Peace Corps volunteer in Senegal. He went on to study environmental science where he learned about market-based approaches to conservation that create long-term financing mechanisms for communities to protect their forests. It inspired his journey to Indonesia and the launch of Forest Carbon.
