Rainforest Alliance

Big Idea:

Tropical forests are the lungs of our planet. They store vast amounts of biodiversity and carbon, make rainwater, provide food, fuel and medicines, as well as being home to hundreds of human cultures. Rainforest Alliance works with communities in and around forests to conserve biodiversity and improve livelihoods. They use a market-driven approach to achieve conservation at the landscape scale.

Nigel is a tropical forest ecologist. He began his career in the Brazilian Amazon and along the way he worked with the World Resources Institute, The Nature Conservancy, Rare, the UN Environment Program, and the Clinton Global Initiative. He is also led the team that created Global Forest Watch.
