We have solutions -- like malaria medication -- that save lives, but these products do little good if they don't reach the people who need them most. Living Goods solves this challenge with an Avon Lady-like network of dynamic women who sell high-impact health products and deliver health education door-to-door in their communities. The result has been a 25% decrease in child mortality in the communities where Living Goods works. They’ve distilled the secret sauce of their proven model to be outstanding performance management using digital tools that help codify impact. They continue to demonstrate the efficacy of their tools to manage large community health worker networks and they’re now testing simpler variants on the model to help governments replicate their success.
Living Goods is one of a bunch of primary healthcare organizations in Mulago’s portfolio self-organized into the Community Health Impact Coalition (CHIC). As individual organizations, they’ve each had outstanding impact and integration with their governments partners. But together they’ve created a movement that could be the impact jackpot. They speak with a louder voice when they call collectively for all community health workers to be salaried, skilled, supervised, supplied & incorporated into national strategies in order to achieve health for all.
