Christiaan Vorkink

Christiaan leads sourcing for our Fellows.
Before Mulago, he spent 17 years at True Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm. After six years as an investment principal, he became True’s first head of platform, building from the ground up a community connecting hundreds of founders globally to learn from one another. In 2020, he created True’s philanthropic arm, TrueVentures.org, which invested in 20 early-stage social impact organizations in education, economic equity, racial justice, conservation, and beyond.
As the son of two teachers for whom apples apparently don’t fall far from the tree, he began his career teaching middle and high school history. He’s always loved the energy of the academic environment and today appreciates being able to lean into education and service well beyond the classroom.
Christiaan is a graduate of Yale and MIT, a joyfully married father of two, and an enthusiastic consumer and creator of plant-based food — especially anything with peanut butter.
