Safe water for everyone, forever.
Water Access Rwanda functions as a profitable water utility. They refurbish existing wells, adding solar pumps, creating a central water point and kiosk. From that, they gradually connect individual homes to create a “water mini-grid.” They sell water at set prices affordable for all, and tap carbon market revenues where there are legit avoided emissions to finance infrastructure and bolster their margins.
A range of water operators build profitable utilities that bring water all the way to homes.
We don’t see many clean water solutions that have the promise of “everyone forever,” and even fewer with the prospect of the household connections that will actually get families enough water to matter. With over 50 piped water systems serving 200k+ people, they've proven they can operate profitably as a rural water utility in Rwanda. And—Founder and CEO Christelle Kwizera is a force of nature.
