How It Works
Farmer.Chat provides an AI chatbot that responds to questions and delivers high-quality localized advice along with information about inputs and markets. They provide it direct-to-farmer in countries where phones are widely available (India and Kenya), and in-person through phone- equipped field agents. Their tech makes previously inaccessible information (like pest identification and control) available in multiple languages through both voice and text.

Why We're In
Digital Green had a huge hit with their farmer-produced advisory videos. They've leveraged that to produce Farmer.Chat in partnership with OpenAI. Farmer engagement is super-high because Farmer.Chat responds immediately and usefully to their questions. The cost continues to drop precipitously and may get as low as $.02 per farmer served. This is a high-performing organization and this idea has spectacular potential.
