Senior Principal


Avery joined Mulago in 2022 as a Senior Investment Principal. Before joining the team, she spent 15 years as an entrepreneur building and leading global teams.She built her social entrepreneur chops as CEO of Bridges to Prosperity, where she built the team from one to 100+ employees. During her tenure, the organization impacted over 1.4M people across 20 countries and she was selected as a Rainer Fellow. Avery’s investment experience started as the Managing Director of the Oxford Seed Fund, an early-stage venture fund which also led due diligence for the Skoll Venture Awards. More recently, she worked in a small private equity office focused on acquisitions in renewable energy, construction, and manufacturing industries. She has experience on private sector ($2B+), B Corps, academic and nonprofit boards.Avery received a MBA from the University of Oxford, a MSc. in Geotechnical Engineering with a focus in low-income settings from the University of Colorado, a BA in studio art and a BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Iowa, where she played soccer.Outside of her day job, you can find her in the mountains or playing pickup basketball (poorly)
