How It Works
Hello Tractor enables owners of small tractors to offer their services to smallholder farmers. They pool demand through their Uber-ish platform so tractors are deployed to a community when there are enough customers to make it worthwhile for the owner. Sensors on tractors allow both farmers and owners to track location and usage, and farmers pay with mobile money.

Why We're In
Mechanization is almost completely absent in African smallholder farms. This is the first promising solution we’ve seen, and Hello Tractor now has over 2.5M customers served by over 6500 tractor owners. Their service creates an incentive for entrepreneurs to buy tractors and for banks to finance them. Moreover, it’s turned out to be a way for governments to deliver on large-scale mechanization schemes. Hello Tractor’s success could spur mechanization across the continent.
